Weekly Meal Plan 2025-11-29

Weekly Meal Plan 2025-11-29 wonton soup

For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, and included one new recipe.

December starts on Monday, and the weather is getting colder and snowier. It’s perfect weather for staying indoors, and cooking hot, hearty suppers!

For our new recipe this week, I added Pan Seared Lamb Chops. Keith might do them sous vide instead, and brown them under the broiler at the end of the cooking process. We’ll see!

And for a few fun food ideas, check out the Food Celebration Days section, below the weekly menu.

Food Celebration Days

Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.

Sunday, Nov 30th – St. Andrew’s Day

St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, and you can learn more about him, and his day, on Scotland’s website.

  • Keith ancestors came to Canada from the lowlands of Scotland. According to legend, they were notorious for crossing the border, and stealing sheep from the English farmers.
  • So, to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day, we’ll have lamb for supper!

Here are a couple of lamb recipes from my old food blog.

Monday, Dec 1st – Eat A Red Apple Day

Nobody seems to know how Eat a Red Apple Day got started, or why only the red apples are included. But we love apples, so here are a couple of apple recipes for you to try.

Thursday, Dec 4th – National Cookie Day

Cookies don’t need an introduction, do they? We’re always ready to eat a cookie or two, and here are two recipes for you.

  • These Cranberry Orange Oatmeal Cookies are chewy and delicious, and easy to make
  • And these Carrot Cookies are an old family favourite. They’re a little softer, and with the carrots, I think they count as a serving of vegetables, right?
