For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, and included one new recipe.

There’s only one sunny day in next week’s weather forecast, so get outside on Monday, if you can! After that, it’s rainy, but above freezing.
The new recipe is Chicken Chili Stew, which is a one-pot dish, and it’s ready in about an hour.

Food Celebration Days
Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.
Tuesday, Mar 31 – National Tater Day
It’s not clear how Tater Day got started, but we’ve always enjoyed potatoes as a side dish, or part of a main dish.
- This Ham and Potato Soup only takes 10 minutes to prepare. After that, cook it for 90 minutes, and supper is ready
- This Easy Tuna Potato Bake uses a package of scalloped potatoes, which cuts down on the prep time, and it’s ready in about an hour.
Thursday, Apr 02 – National Burrito Day
Here’s another day with a mysterious origin. Apparently, there are lots of Buy One, Get One (BOGO) sales on Burrito Day, so you could buy your burritos, instead of making them a home. That might be cheaper too!
Here are a couple of quick recipes to try:
- This Beef Burrito recipe only takes 20 minutes to make. That’s probably quicker than going out to buy some!
- And for a 10 minute supper, try this recipe for Burrito Bowls
Saturday, Apr 04 – Ramen Noodle Day
The first instant ramen noodles were invented by Momofuku Ando, in March 1958, in Osaka Japan. If you’re in the area, you can visit the Cup Noodles Museum, to learn more about this popular packaged food.
And to celebrate at home, here are a couple of recipes to try:
- This Beef and Broccoli Ramen recipe serves 4, and takes about 35 minutes.
- Or, try this Easy Saucy Ramen Noodles (Vegan Recipe) which serves 2, and takes 25 minutes to make.
