Pork Chops With Apples and Pears

Pork Chops With Apples and Pears

This is one of my favorite ways to have pork chops, and if we can’t find ripe pears, we use good quality jarred pears in juice. Canned pears would work too!

The recipe is quick and simple to make, and it’s delicious comfort food for a cool summer evening – or any time of the year!

Pork Chops With Apples and Pears

Ingredients

  • 2 bone-in pork chops
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium apple
  • 1 medium pear

Directions

  1. Season pork chops with salt and pepper
  2. Core the apple and pear, and cut into 1/4″ wedges
    • You don’t have to peel them!
  3. In a medium non-stick frying pan, over medium-high heat, add 1 tbsp of oil
  4. Add the pork chops, and cook each side for 2-3 minutes, to sear them
  5. Add the apple and pear wedges, spreading them out in the pan
  6. Cover the pan, and reduce the heat to medium
  7. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, until the pork chops reach the safe internal temperature of 145°F (63°C)

Recipe Notes

  • I’ve made this with several types of apples, so use what you have on hand!
  • Cooking time will depend on the pork chop thickness
  • In warm weather, we have a tossed salad on the side.
  • For colder days, we have this recipe with boiled potatoes, or cooked rice.
