For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, and included one new recipe Spicy Maple Glazed Salmon. It’s a sheet pan recipe that looks delicious.

The weather looks good this weekend, but the forecast is for cool and rainy days from Monday to Wednesday. It’s Halloween on Friday, so I hope the weather is good, for the trick-or-treaters!
And I know it’s the last week of October, but I don’t like to see those single-digit “high” temperatures, starting on Sunday.

To help us stay warm, I’ll make a cottage roll on Tuesday. It’s been a long time since we’ve had that, and it’s perfect for autumn!
And remember to turn your clocks back next Saturday night, so you can get that much-needed extra hour of sleep. Standard Time starts next Sunday, November 2nd.
The Weekly Plan
Here is our plan for the week starting Sunday, Oct 26, 2025. There are links for some recipes, and others are made “freestyle”.
- Note: Beside each recipe, I show the number of times that we’ve made this recipe, since I started keeping track in 2015.
Sunday — Fajitas ( 21 times )
Monday — Spicy Maple Glazed Salmon ( 0 times )
Tuesday — Cottage Roll With Vegetables ( 43 times )
TIP: Slow Cooker
Wednesday — Carrot Apple Ginger Soup ( 25 times )
Thursday — Sheet Pan Lamb Meatballs ( 22 times )
Friday — Sheet Pan Pork Chops & Brussels Sprouts ( 125 times )
Saturday — Rotisserie Chicken ( 14 times )
How It Actually Went
Here’s what we actually had this week – we made a few changes, and moved things around
Sunday – Fajitas
- This meal went as planned
Monday — Cottage Roll With Vegetables
- It was nice to have a cottage roll again, but I was shocked by how little meat was left, after I cooked and trimmed it.
- If you click the cottage roll link above, you can see the before and after photos.
- The salmon got moved to Wednesday
Tuesday — Slow Cooker Pot Roast
- There was leftover pot roast from the weekend, so we had that, for a quick and tasty supper
Wednesday — Spicy Maple Glazed Salmon (photo below)
- The Carrot Apple Ginger soup got bumped, and we tried this week’s new recipe for salmon
- It was okay, but I wouldn’t make it again.
- The sauce was thin, and most of it just burnt on the parchment paper
- The small drizzle at the end ran right off the salmon, onto the plate
- We’ll go back to the Sheet Pan Lemon Garlic Salmon that we usually make

Thursday — Sheet Pan Hot Italian Meatballs
- Keith couldn’t find ground lamb, so we had the Italian meatballs from the freezer instead
Friday — Sheet Pan Pork Chops & Brussels Sprouts
- One of our favourite suppers, and it was delicious, as always
Saturday — Rack of Lamb
- Keith did this in the sous vide, then finished it under the oven broiler

Halloween Memories
Last weekend, we had our son’s dog, Milo, here as our house guest. Back in October 2020, Milo was just a puppy, and celebrated his first Halloween.
Here’s Milo in his Cookie Monster costume, and he looked adorable, in my unbiased opinion. Happy Halloween, if you’re celebrating!
