For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, and included one new recipe.

There’s a cold and snowy week of weather ahead, with extra cold, but sunny, on Monday. And there’s almost 3 weeks until Christmas, so there’s no need to panic yet, right?
The new recipe is Fettuccine Alfredo with Cauliflower Sauce. We like cauliflower, so I hope this sauce turns out well! Or, Keith might make an impulse purchase at the grocery store, to avoid trying it! We’ll see.
And for a few fun food ideas, check out the Food Celebration Days section, below the weekly menu.

Food Celebration Days
Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.
Monday, Dec 8th – National Brownie Day / National Lard Day
This food day could be dangerous, if we stuff ourselves with brownies and lard! We don’t eat either of those food items these days, but I’d have brownies at someone else’s house, just to be polite.
- If my grandkids asked for brownies, I’d try this One Bowl Fudgy Cocoa Brownies recipe
- And we love these Butterscotch Brownies, on my old food blog
- For Lard Day, you can try the Fèves au Lard (Baked Beans) recipe, on my old food blog
Tuesday, Dec 9th – National Pastry Day
It’s been a long time since we last had them, but Keith used to make a delicious pastry supper. Maybe I can convince him to make them again!
- Instead of pie crust pastry, these Flaky Mushroom and Gruyere Tarts are made with store-bought puff pastry, and filled with cheese and mushrooms. Yum!.
Thursday, Dec 11th – International Mountain Day
We’ve got Rocky Mountains here in Canada, and Switzerland is also famous for its mountains. There are two yodel-icious recipes for Swiss steak on this blog – slow cooker and stove top versions.
