Weekly Meal Plan 2026-01-10

For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, and included one new recipe.

We had a couple of warmish days last week, but the clouds and colder weather are back! If we’re lucky, the sun will peek out today, so get out and enjoy that if you can!

This week’s new recipe is Easy Canned Tuna Pasta. I’ve put it on the menu before, but it fell off, for some reason. Probably Keith volunteered to make something else, and I happily accepted his offer!

Food Celebration Days

Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.

Monday Jan 12th – National Roast Day

Winter is the perfect time for a roast supper, so put one into the oven, or in the slow cooker, and enjoy a delicious and hearty meal tonight.

Friday Jan 16th – National Quinoa Day

Quinoa is often called a “superfood”, because it’s a complete protein, rich in nutrients, and gluten free. It’s hard to tell from its spelling, but quinoa is pronounced “KEEN-wah”. If you haven’t tried it before, this is the perfect day to try a quinoa dish!

Saturday Jan 17th – Popeye Day

Popeye the Sailor Man first appeared on January 17, 1929, in a comic strip named Thimble Theatre.  He quickly became the star of that comic strip, which was later renamed as Popeye. Read more about Popeye on Wikipedia.

Popeye gets his power from canned spinach, so here’s a spinach recipe for you to try. “I’m strong to the finish, ’cause I eats me spinach!”
