Weekly Meal Plan 2025-12-13

For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, and included one new recipe – Garlicky Cabbage Soup.

There’s another week of cold, snowy weather ahead, so I hope we can find a not-too-bad day to get some shopping done!

In addition to the new recipe, I’ve included 3 recipes that we haven’t had for a long time.

  • We last had the Pork Medallions, and the Ginger Beef, in July 2024.
  • And we haven’t had the Garlic Lemon Shrimp since May 2018!

Let’s see if we still enjoy those recipes, and remember how to make them!

Food Celebration Days

Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.

Sunday Dec 14th – Monkey Day

This is the first time that I’ve heard of Monkey Day! Wikipedia says it was started in 2000, by two art students at Michigan State University. The day is celebrated with artwork, zoo events, and learning more about monkeys.

Wednesday Dec 17th – National Maple Syrup Day

As a Canadian, I’m a big supporter of maple syrup, so this day will be fun! Start the day with pancakes and maple syrup for breakfast.

Thursday Dec 18th – National Bake Cookies Day

In our old neighbourhood, a group of us would bake several batches of one kind of festive cookie. Then we’d all get together for a cookie exchange. It was a wonderful tradition, and we enjoyed it for several years.
