Next week’s weather will stay in the mid to high 20s, with the sun peeking out most days. We could get rain today, and maybe a thunderstorm too, so be careful out there!
We’ve enjoyed an Egg Roll Bowl recipe in the past, but we’ll try a new one this week. I’ll use this as a starting point, and will add a few extra seasonings, and some canned water chestnuts, for crunch!

Food Celebration Days
Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.
Wednesday, Jun 10 – National Herbs And Spices Day
It’s not clear how this celebration started, but herbs and spices are a big help at supper time!
Here are a couple of recipes to try:
- This recipe for Easy Garlic and Herb Pasta looks tasty, and it’s ready in 30 min, for 4 servings.
- Start this recipe for Lemon-Herb Roasted Chicken in an oven-proof skillet, then finish it in the oven. It takes 30 min, and serves 4.
Thursday, Jun 11 – National Corn On the Cob Day
Corn on the Cob Day is another celebration of unknown origin, but it makes a delicious supper!
Here are a couple of recipes to try:
- This recipe, Easiest Corn on the Cob is our favourite way to make corn on the cob, when it’s just the two of us. Put a cob in the microwave, with the husk still on, and cook it for about 3.5 minutes.
- For a bigger crowd, try this Grilled Corn on the Cob (with chili lime seasoning) It takes about 20 minutes, and makes 4 cobs.
Saturday, Jun 13 – National Chamoy Day
We’ve never tried Chamoy before, so it’s great to learn about, and see how to make this sweet and tangy sauce, and use it in supper recipes.
Here are a couple of recipes to try:
- You can buy Chamoy, or try one of these Two Homemade Chamoy Recipes There’s a classic recipe, and an easier version.
- And for supper, try this recipe for Mexican Chamoy Chicken with Grains It’s ready in 25 minutes, and serves 2.
