During the winter, we eat lots of stews and hearty casseroles. But on hot summer days, we look for lighter recipes for our supper meals, like this pork tenderloin recipe. Continue reading “Pork Tenderloin in Lemon Sauce”
Easy Chicken Casserole
The recipe was originally in Casseroles, in the old “Company’s Coming” cookbook series, published here in Canada, by Jean Pare. I collected quite a few books from that series!
Christmas Cookies
Christmas cookies are one of my favourite parts of the holiday season. No matter how you make them, they are always delicious.
So here’s a recipe for some super quick and easy Christmas cookies you can make whenever you want (even if it’s not Christmas).
Pasta With Steak Strips
The first time we made this recipe was way back in March 2008! We had leftover rib eye steak in the fridge, and fresh asparagus. Those ingredients inspired this quick and delicious supper recipe.
Stovetop Swiss Steak
I’ve been making this stove top Swiss Steak recipe, for as long as we’ve been married! I found the original version in a small cookbook published by the Ontario Department of Agriculture & Food, probably in the early 70s.
Pork Chops With Apples and Pears
This is one of my favorite ways to have pork chops, and if we can’t find ripe pears, we use good quality jarred pears in juice. Canned pears would work too! Continue reading “Pork Chops With Apples and Pears”
Hamburger Scramble
We make variations on this quick ground beef recipe, adding whatever vegetables and seasonings that we have on hand. It’s not pretty, but it’s perfect for nights when you’re tired, and the cupboards are almost bare.
Weekly Meal Plan 2025-07-05
Here in Mississauga, there’s a week of mixed weather in the forecast. Every day has clouds, and the sun peeks out occasionally. I like the mid-20 temperatures though!
For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, and included one new recipe – One-Pot Creamy Orzo with Pork. Continue reading “Weekly Meal Plan 2025-07-05”
Stovetop Carrot Apple Ginger Soup
When we first tried this soup, it was in the slow cooker all day, and we enjoyed it at supper time.
Later, I adapted the recipe, so I could make it on the stovetop, in a much quicker time! The flavours are just as good, and now it’s a 45 minute project, instead of taking all day.
Blondies with Chocolate Chips
This is a lighter, less gooey, version of traditional Blondies squares. They’re delicious, and they disappear quickly!
Makes 16 squares, about 100 calories each.
