Weekly Meal Plan 2026-05-23 Cauliflower

For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, with no new recipes. And scroll down to see the fun food day ideas too, like Hamburger Day (Thu May 28th)

There’s a wet weekend in the forecast, followed by more rain on Monday. After that, we get sun for a few days, with temperatures in the mid-20s – that sounds perfect!

Food Celebration Days

Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.

Sunday, May 24 – Asparagus Day

There’s no origin story for this celebration, but you can learn all about asparagus on the Serious Eats site. And if you love this tasty spring vegetable, here are a couple of recipes to try.

Monday, May 25 – Memorial Day

In the USA, Memorial Day is a federal holiday to honour fallen military personnel. It’s observed on the last Monday in May, and this year it’s on the earliest possible date – May 25th.

If you’re eating indoors on Memorial Day, here are a couple of recipes to try:

Thursday, May 28 – National Hamburger Day

Hamburger day marks the start of the summer grilling season, if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere!

Maybe you have your own hamburger recipe, but if not, here are a couple of burger recipes to try.

  • This recipe makes a bold claim in its title! Is it really The Perfect Basic Burger recipe? It takes 5 minutes to prepare, and 15 minutes to cook, for 4 servings.
  • And if you only have 10 minutes, try this Smash Burger recipe, that also makes 4 servings. A smash burger is a thin burger that’s cooked on a griddle.
