Happy Victoria Day weekend, if you’re celebrating, or “May Two-Four” weekend, as it’s also known, in some parts of Canada. The weekend gets off to a rainy start, but looks perfect for Sunday and Monday.
This week’s new recipe is Crispy Sheet Pan Gnocchi and Veggies, and we’ll make it with frozen cauliflower gnocchi. I didn’t know that type of gnocchi existed, so I hope it tastes good! You could use potato gnocchi instead, if you prefer.

Food Celebration Days
Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.
Sunday, May 17 – World Baking Day
World Baking Day was started by Unilever in 2012, to promote their margarine products. Five years later, in 2017, Unilever sold their margarine and spreads division, but the baking celebration carries on!
Here are a couple of baking-themed supper recipes you can try:
- Buy or bake a loaf of French bread, and use it for French Bread Pizza. It takes 45 minutes, and serves 4.
- This recipe for Air Fryer Taco Ring uses crescent roll refrigerated dough. It’s ready in 30 minutes, and serves 8.
Thursday, May 21 – Eat More Fruits And Vegetables Day
The celebration was started by Dole in 2015, to encourage healthier eating habits.
Here are a couple of vegetable-based recipes to try:
- This recipe for Easy and Delicious Vegetarian Chili is ready in 20 minutes, and makes 6 servings.
- And these Crispy pea fritters are also ready in only 20 minutes, for 2 servings
Friday, May 22 – Carb Day
Carb Day started in 2000, as part of the Indy 500 race weekend. “Carburation Day” is the final practice day before the race, and there’s a Carb Day concert, and other fun events.
So it’s not really a food day, but we can celebrate Carb Day by eating high-carb suppers!
- Try this pasta recipe, for Fresh Corn and Tomato Fettuccine It’s ready in 30 minutes, and serves 4
- And this recipe for Tater Tot Burger with Sriracha Sour Cream takes 30 minutes, for 4 servings
