For this week’s menu, I chose old favourites from our meal plan, with burgers on Friday – Keith doesn’t use a recipe for those! And scroll down to see some fun food day ideas too, like Pretzel Day (April 26th)

There’s a cool and cloudy week of weather ahead, and rain showers too. That should result in lots of flowers, when May starts on Friday!
And it’s our anniversary on Saturday, so we’ll have one of our favourite suppers – sheet pan salmon, with veggies.

Food Celebration Days
Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.
Sunday, Apr 26 – National Pretzel Day
In 2003, National Pretzel Day was officially started in Pennsylvania, where about 80% of the USA’s pretzels are produced. And Pennsylvanians apparently eat about 12 times the national average!
If you love pretzels too, here are a couple of supper recipes to try:
- For a light supper try this recipe for Pretzel Bites with Cheese Sauce. It takes 45 minutes, and serves 4.
- This recipe for Baked Pretzel Crusted Chicken Tenders takes 30 minutes, serves 4, and uses crushed pretzels.
Thursday, Apr 30 – National Raisin Day
Way back in 1909, the raisin growers of California widely promoted the first National Raisin Day. And it’s been going strong ever since!
We used to get tiny boxes of raisins as a fancy treat, but you can use them in supper recipes too.
- Try this recipe for Spiced Chicken and Rice with Apples and Raisins. It takes 10 minutes to prepare, and then you can do other things, while it cooks for 1 hour. The recipe serves 8, and uses chicken thighs
- For something a bit fancier, try this Sweet Stuffed Sicilian Pork Loin. It takes 30 minutes to prepare, then cooks for 70 minutes.
Saturday, May 02 – World Tuna Day
World Tuna Day was established by the United Nations in 2017, to highlight responsible tuna fishing.
For a quick supper with canned tuna, try one of these recipes:
- This recipe for Tuna Patties is ready in 22 minutes, and it serves 4
- And this recipe for Creamy Tuna Pasta is ready in 25minutes, and it serves 4
