The new recipe this week is Homemade Sausage and Egg McMuffin. I made the sausage patties for our Easter brunch this year, and everyone enjoyed them. This week, we’ll try the full recipe, with the egg layer too!

Food Celebration Days
Almost every day of the year has a food celebration that we can enjoy, or ignore! Here are a few of the food days for the upcoming week, with recipe ideas for you.
Monday, May 04 – Orange Juice Day
It’s not clear how Orange Juice Day got started, but you can make some tasty supper dishes that feature orange juice as a key ingredients.
Here are a couple of recipes to try:
- This recipe for Crispy Orange Chicken uses frozen popcorn chicken, as a shortcut. It only takes 30 minutes to prepare, and makes 4 servings.
- Orange Juice Day Superfast Sesame Orange Beef Stir-Fry Note: 15 min, 4 servings
Monday, May 04 – Star Wars Day
Fans started celebrating Star Wars Day every year on May 4th, because “May the Fourth be with you” is a tribute to the movie’s catchphrase, “May the Force be with you”.
If you’re a Star Wars fan, you can try one of these recipes for supper:
- Buy small pizza shells, or a package of naan, and make these Death Star Mini Pizzas
- Or, for something fancier, try this recipe for Cirilian Noodle Salad. It’s by the author of Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, and it takes 25 minutes to prepare. The noodles are coloured by cooking them with red cabbage.
Tuesday, May 05 – Cinco De Mayo
Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration of Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It’s the perfect day to enjoy your favourite Mexican dishes! Or beer!
Here are a couple of easy recipes to try:
- This recipe for Salsa Verde Chicken Casserole only takes 30 minutes, and makes 6 servings
- And this recipe for Blue-Ribbon Beef Nachos only takes 25 minutes, and also makes 6 servings
